Description / course set-up
Understanding the basic concepts of SPSS syntax is a prerequisite for working in the field of quantitative market research and offers a multitude of advantages over working with the graphical user interface.
The seminar/course presents a number of concepts important in data management and demonstrates how to carry out data management using SPSS syntax. Data management includes everything necessary to prepare data for analysis, including
1) Getting the data into SPSS
2) Screening data for data errors, missing data, etc.
3) Matching and restructuring data files
4) Creating and recoding variables
Moreover, the course gives an introduction into the implementation of particular statistical tests with SPSS syntax and shows how syntax can be used to solve complex data manipulation problems.
Programming skills are not required but basic experience with SPSS and multivariate statistics are helpful. Course language is English (optional).
