Description and Objectives
The course serves to make students familiar with those statistical methodologies that are nowadays commonly applied throughout all research areas in business administration. The course follows a “hands-on” principle throughout, i.e. practical applications and the use of the software programs (SPSS, SmartPLS, and EViews) are an integral part of this course. The lecturers will use recent journal articles as well as book chapters to teach the participants the state-of-the-art in research methodology.
The core methods and issues covered in the course comprise:
- Recap: some basics in statistics
- Principal component analysis
- Scale development and index construction
- Principles of structural equation modeling and PLS path modeling
- Logit/probit models
- Linear regression and selected issues
- Models for panel data
- Models with lagged variables (Vector autoregression)
